Donate In Memory of Liza Kroeger

In 2017 the late Liza Kroeger established the Kroeger Clocks Heritage Foundation in honour of her father, Arthur Kroeger, a modern-day Mennonite clock restorer.

Liza established and supported the Kroeger Clocks Heritage Foundation to document and preserve the Mennonite clockmaking heritage, with the goal of making the stories and craftsmanship of these clocks accessible to a global community. Liza has been the driving force behind the work of the Foundation, bringing her enthusiasm, zeal, and creativity to the work of documenting and sharing the stories of Mennonite clocks.

The Foundation is committed to continuing this mission. To help us in this aim, we welcome our new board members: Blake Hamm (President), Pamela Simmons and Liza’s daughter, Alexandra Olivia Kroeger Zeitz to assist long-standing board member Rosmarin Heindenreich.

At this time of transition, we are reaching out to the community to help to continue this work in memory of Liza. We welcome donations to assist with the work of the Foundation to further its research and activities that encompass artifacts, and both written and oral histories about clockmakers and caretakers from the mid-eighteenth century to today. In addition, your contributions will help us to complete a digital archive of Mennonite clocks begun under Liza’s leadership.

Donations can be accepted online at Canada Helps or if you wish, personal cheques may be sent to the attention of Anikó Szabó, Executive Director, Kroeger Clock Heritage Foundation, 488 Newman Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3G 2V5.

The Kroeger Clocks Heritage Foundation is a Canadian registered charity #7292 40291.

About the Kroeger Clock Heritage Foundation

In 2012, the late Arthur Kroeger published Kroeger Clocks, a 174 page book, which highlights the author’s research of over 55 surviving clocks. Beyond this, his extensive travel, research, and restoration work resulted in the verification and detailed documentation of at least 200 additional clocks currently in private collections and museums in Poland, Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Canada, Mexico, Belize, and Paraguay.

More clocks have since come to light but remain undocumented, and the many stories are currently inaccessible to the general public.

The mission of the Kroeger Clock Foundation is:

  • Locate and photograph Mennonite clocks around the world according to museum standards.

  • Compile and catalogue detailed information of each artifact for future reference.

  • Collect family contributed stories from the global community of clock owners and make this information accessible through the database and virtual collection of The Virtual Museum of Mennonite Clocks web site.

  • Promote and exhibit the art and heritage of Mennonite clocks both virtually and physically in partnership with museums and others to increase interest in the clocks, their social history and of various clockmakers.

  • Assist with the preservation, collection and maintenance of Mennonite clocks.

We welcome donations to assist with the work of the Foundation.
