‘Apprentice’ Clock

Kroeger Clock no. 5397, ca. 1910 (MC0197)

Arthur Kroeger gifted this clock to the current owner in appreciation for being his apprentice. It is unknown when Arthur acquired the clock, repaired, or restored it.

 

  • Description Thirty-hour wall clock with pendulum and weight-driven movement, made by Kroeger Clockmakers in Rosenthal, Russian Empire (now Ukraine), ca. 1910, serial number 5397. Arched dial with a raised chapter ring is light with a single dark border around the perimeter. Arch has hand-painted version of a common decal: a gold scroll with a rose and bluebird. Spandrels are hand-painted copies of common gold scroll decals. Chapter ring is white with black Roman numerals; has outer rings marking the minutes and quarter hours. Two hands; bell function; chain drive; four weights.
